The 2026 Cannes Film Festival lineup has been announced, with several returning artists and new voices set to compete this year.
Major titles in the competition include Asghar Farhadi, who returns with parallel storiesHis first feature after winning the Grand Prix hero In 2021.
American director Ira Sachs will also debut the man I loveA 1980s film that explores the AIDS crisis in New York.
Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodovar is another leading contender bitter christmasAs part of a strong Spanish presence at the festival. Many of his regular collaborators are also involved with other projects screening this year.

Festival director Thierry Frémaux noted the record number of films directed by women in the competition, of which five were selected this year. They also celebrated a sharp increase in submissions, with over 2,500 films considered – a significant increase from a decade ago.
