As spring begins to settle in, I’ve started searching for some easy outfit formulas that I can adopt into the warmer months. And this week, Iris Law highlights a combination I can already imagine in London. Making a change from the jeans-and-loafers uniform many of us are still drawn to, Iris stepped out in a trending transparent skirt, amping up her look with a pair of dark blue ballet flats.
While knee-length skirts worn with ballet flats can sometimes shorten the leg, Iris’s light, sheer fabric sidestepped this dilemma, instead creating an airy, fluid and playful look that perfectly matches her sense of casual style.

Although she debuted the outfit in LA, I’m willing to bet it won’t take long for this combination to become established throughout London. In the summer, I suspect no beer garden or park picnic will be complete without at least a few transparent skirts styled like this.
Although it’s true that the transparent skirt may seem a little daunting at first, Iris paired it with a long-line top, making the blurry skirt look much easier to wear. Meanwhile, ballet flats ensured the lasting comfort needed for city days, while also adding a level of polish. Trainers cannot copy easily.
It’s safe to say, I’ll welcome this two-piece into my daily spring rotation. Scroll on to discover and shop the best transparent skirts and ballet flats to try the look this season too.
