Mojtaba Khamenei has claimed that Iran has achieved “final victory” in its war with the United States and Israel, and said that Tehran “surprised the world” during the conflict.
In a televised statement, Khamenei celebrated 40 days since the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a US-Israeli strike at the beginning of the war.
Khamenei said that Iran does not want conflict but is protecting its rights.
He said, “We will definitely not leave unpunished the criminal attackers who attack our country.”
He said Iran would “demand compensation for all damages as well as the blood of the martyrs and the injured”.
His comments come at a time when the two-week ceasefire brokered by Pakistan between Iran and the US remains fragile.
The agreement includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, a key route for global energy supplies.
Khamenei hinted at a change in strategy, saying Iran would enter a “new phase”, without giving details.
He also warned that Tehran was prepared to respond if the ceasefire was broken. “Our hands are on the trigger,” he said.
The ceasefire has been further strained by Israeli air strikes in Lebanon, which have reportedly killed hundreds and raised questions about whether the country remains covered by the agreement.
Talks between US and Iranian officials are expected to take place in Pakistan in the coming days as efforts continue to ensure long-term peace.
