The latest alleged DUI incident dealt a blow to Tiger Woods, who was seeking a return to the golfing circuit.
Now, a source is revealing his mindset following his shocking arrest.
“Tiger can be defensive sometimes, but in the latest accident he was embarrassed and ashamed,” the insider tells People.
“He wants to fix his problems. No one is more interested than Tiger in seeing him win again. He doesn’t like losing and facing embarrassing public situations.”
However, “he is now determined to get better, no matter how long it takes.”
When the arrest took place, police revealed that hydrocodone pills were found in the golf legend’s pocket.
Additionally, officials observed signs of impairment, including “bloodshot and glassy” eyes and “extremely dilated” pupils.
The bodycam footage reportedly shows Woods having several hiccups and signs of distress on his face.
For assurance, the police conducted a breath analyzer test, in which he passed. To be more sure, the officers asked for a urine test, which he refused.
In response, police charged him with damage to property and refusing to comply with orders, in addition to DUI.
Later, Woods released a statement announcing that he would take some time off for treatment and step away from the sport.
“I am taking some time away to receive treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”
“I am committed to taking the time needed to return to a healthier, stronger and more centered place personally and professionally,” he said.
“I appreciate your understanding and support and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time,” Woods concluded.
