Eva Longoria reportedly wanted to be financially independent when she entered Hollywood.
In a new conversation with Fortune, the 51-year-old woman admitted to working as a part-time headhunter undercover during her tenure. the young and the Restless.
Eva recalled, “The first day I got to L.A., I got a job. I thought, ‘I’m not going to be a struggling actor. I’m going to figure it out.'”
Speaking about this experience, she recalled, “In my dressing room, I was racking my brain. I was negotiating 401(k)s and salaries, interviewing and reading resumes and hiring people. And then they’d say, ‘Eva, get ready on set.'”
Ultimately, she left the corporate role during her third year on The Young and the Restless as pursuing a career in acting became financially viable for Eva.
“I knew that if acting didn’t work out, I could always go back to corporate America,” she said.
Nevertheless, she shared that her boss at the temp agency was so impressed with her performance that he actively discouraged her from moving to Hollywood.
She revealed, “They never understood why I didn’t stay in corporate America. It just wasn’t my job, but I was really good at it.”
“Everyone was amazed because I had built this little business within his business, and he kept saying, ‘Why would you want to be an actress? You’re so good at business; it’s a one in a million chance that you’ll be successful at acting.’
