Fred Armisen opens up about his early days in entertainment and the relationship he ultimately formed with Saturday night Live.
Appeared on Armisen ok wait Podcast, where he sat down with host Amy Poehler to discuss his career and how SNL played an important role in his career success.
Expressing his views, he said, “My relationship to SNL was that I watched it all the time. But I was really into the B-52s (a post-punk band) and Devo and the Talking Heads.”
“And I’m not saying it like, ‘Hey, I just like bands.’ I’m like, Lorne (Michaels, the show’s creator and producer) was communicating with me,” quipped the 59-year-old American comedian and actor.
Armisen revealed that it was Saturday Night Live’s musical guests who made him feel valued and heard in a way that cannot be described. Especially, the confidence it gave him helped him a lot in improving his comedy.
“These bands that they had, I felt like I understood something about the show. And then, like, Mister Bill and the sketches, but also, the bands there. I said, ‘This should be fun,'” Wednesday Starr quipped.
It is worth mentioning that Fred Armisen, who attended Saturday night Live in 2002, performing on the show for 11 seasons.
