Thousands of travelers were stranded after US flights were canceled as long delays disrupted operations at some of the country’s busiest airports, throwing air travel across the US into chaos.
As reported, travelers across the US are facing a tough Monday as they are frustrated and struggling to rebook their travel as a new wave of flight disruptions hits major airports.
According to the latest data, at least 55 cancellations and 2,345 delays were reported across the country on April 13.
Major airports including Chicago O’Hare, Miami and San Francisco are seeing the highest numbers of stranded passengers.
Chicago O’Hare currently leads the nation in disruptions, while smaller regional hubs like Billings, Montana have also had a surprising number of flights grounded.
American Airlines has reportedly experienced the most delays among the “Big Four” carriers.
The Federal Aviation Administration FAA has stepped in to manage volumes and reports that “The Federal Aviation Administration FAA has also implemented flow control measures at several points to reduce overcrowding.”
Meanwhile, passengers are advised to carefully check their flight status digitally before reaching the airport.
This comes as the industry faces constant scrutiny over its sustainability.
Analysts believe that “this travel disruption highlights the fragility of the air travel system and the need for greater investment.”
Additionally, industry experts said the system is struggling under the burden of staffing shortages and unpredictable weather patterns.
