Rich Eisen is set to return to ESPN’s SportsCenter for the first time in more than two decades, marking a nostalgic moment for the veteran broadcaster.
According to a press release from ESPN, Eisen will host a midnight edition of the program Sunday through Monday from the network’s Bristol, Connecticut studios.
This appearance will be his second return to Sportscentre and his first hosting gig in Bristol in 20 years.
Eisen, who rose to prominence during his original tenure on the show from 1996 to 2003, said he is eager to return.
He said, “I’m excited to return to my old stomping grounds and host an old-school SportsCenter on such a big sporting night like never before.”
“I’m so lucky to have that opportunity and can’t wait to get back in the chair. Also, my Blackberry charger is gone forever and hope I probably left it in there somewhere.”
During his first tenure, Eisen often co-hosted with the late Stuart Scott.
After leaving ESPN in 2003, Eisen joined NFL Network, where he remains a key figure. He currently hosts The Rich Eisen Show and covers major NFL events including the draft and regular season games.
