Kanye West’s prospects are dwindling and fears are rising that France could follow Britain’s lead and potentially ban him as the date for his concert there approaches.
According to AFP, this news has been shared by a source close to Interior Minister Laurent Nunez. According to his claim he is “extremely determined to impose sanctions against the rapper, ahead of his scheduled show on June 11 in Marseille.
On March 4, the mayor of Marseille also took to Twitter to voice his opinion, writing, “I refuse to let Marseille become a showcase for those who promote hatred and unapologetic Nazism. Kanye West is not welcome in the Vélodrome, which is our temple of togetherness and that of all Marseilles.”
It comes just after the Wireless Festival was forced to be canceled due to the UK Home Office’s decision to ban Kanye, also known as Ye, from entry into the entire country. According to reports, the same agenda is followed in France as ministers are trying to find legal avenues to ensure this.
“As a result of the Home Office banning YE from entering the United Kingdom, Wireless Festival has been forced to cancel,” a statement on the event’s Instagram page said, after UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Ye “should never have been invited”. Earlier, even the biggest sponsors including Pepsi had backed out.
