Many Pixel users are struggling with poor battery life on their devices. from countless reddit positions To Google’s Community ForumsThere are widespread reports of excessive battery drain even when the phone is in idle mode.
One Redditor says his Pixel 9 Pro went from lasting all day to needing to be charged two to three times. Another says his Pixel 10 Pro previously lasted 16 hours with seven hours of screen-on time, which has now dropped to “barely 12 hours” with six hours of screen-on time. Another user couldn’t mince his words and wrote:
Since the update my battery has absolutely deteriorated. Hoping for a solution. P10 Pro.
From the numerous comments on posts about the topic, the excessive battery drain doesn’t seem to be limited to any specific model. Although most of the complaints are for the new Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series phones, we’ve also seen several reports for older models, including the Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 lineup (including the A series models).
Many of these reports date back two to three weeks, with users claiming the problems emerged after the March 2026 Pixel drop. Although Google’s April 2026 update for Pixel devices is largely focused on fixing past bugs and issues, it doesn’t seem to address the battery drain issue.
What could be the cause of the problem?
While users are speculating about what causes this battery drain on their Pixel phones, one user claims that it could be caused by a bug that prevents the on-device GPS from entering a “suspend state” when not in use. This, in turn, keeps the CPU up and running “even when the device is completely isolated in airplane mode and all radios are manually turned off.”
We are unsure if so is actually the culprit, because Google hasn’t admitted it yet specific issue tracker thread Or Share any updates.
