Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly come up with a strategy to look happy and united during their Australian tour amid rumors of marital tension.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex carefully shaped the narrative ahead of their non-royal visit, according to a brand and culture expert.
Brand and culture expert Nick Ade said the Sussexes have been demonstrating “confidence, stability and control” through their recent public appearances, including being seen with Ted Sarandos.
He said Harry and Meghan’s move signaled a deliberate effort to project a united and stable image while fending off speculation of tensions behind the scenes.
“Harry and Meghan have always taken a very deliberate, almost Hollywood-style approach to managing the investigation and what we’re seeing now is a continuation of that strategy,” the expert said. Express.
“By going out publicly with Netflix boss Ted, they are clearly trying to show confidence, stability and control,” Ade continued.
“It’s a classic PR move and in their minds, it shuts down rumors about fractures behind the scenes. However, the risk is that it may seem overly performative.
“When you so clearly associate yourself with a commercial partner so soon after the controversy, especially after legal action on Harry’s part, it invites more questions rather than giving them closure. People start to wonder what’s really going on behind the scenes.”
He added that while Harry and Meghan’s brand is built on “authenticity and purpose”, it may be “starting to feel more like celebrity damage control than values-driven storytelling, which is what they are strongest at.”
“I think the best thing about this pair is that together they are really strong and showing this united front and not backing down is a really positive step for them and the brand as they start their Australian tour very soon.”
