Prince Edward and Princess Anne have recently reached out to their disgraced brother Andrew amid fears over his ‘fragile mental state’.
Edward and Anne’s true feelings for Andrew prompted speculation of a widespread deterioration in the royal family’s attitude towards them, and that King Charles might take a similar step.
however, daily Mail has claimed that King Charles may never speak to Andrew again due to his role in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
The report, citing royal insiders, claims that King Charles will never talk and will not forgive Andrew.
“The hard reality is that the King may never speak to Andrew again,” the close confidant told the outlet.
“Even them being in the same room will drastically change the king’s thinking,” the insider said.
The fact that Edward has now visited Andrew and that Anne has also spoken to him may suggest that Charles “may be considering some form of rapprochement – but this is completely false.”
“First of all they were never close as brothers, there was tension between them that long predates the Epstein scandal.”
Insiders said that in the context of the Epstein case, King Charles feels “he was lied to and it is not easy to forgive.”
And King Charles is not just a brother in this situation, Mole said, but also the monarch – and in that capacity he has to protect the monarchy above all other considerations, even personal ones.
