Hugo Ekiti has become a major injury concern for Liverpool and France after their Champions League quarter-final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
According to reports, the striker injured his right ankle after slipping in the 27th minute of the second leg match at Anfield.
He received medical treatment on the pitch before being taken off on a stretcher and replaced by Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot said after the match that the injury could be serious: “It doesn’t look good. It feels really bad, but it’s hard for me to say how bad. Tomorrow we’ll do further investigations.”
Liverpool were beaten 2–0 on the night, with PSG progressing 4–0 on aggregate after leading the first leg.
This injury could be a major blow for both club and country, especially with a major international tournament approaching.
Ibrahima Konate said, “I think it’s bad. I don’t know, I’ve heard a lot of things, I don’t have words to talk about it because with the World Cup coming it’s very hard for them and I send them my prayers.”
