Anthropic said on Thursday it is expanding its presence in London with new office space for 800 people, days after rival OpenAI unveiled plans for its first permanent office in the UK capital.
The maker of cloud AI chatbots currently has more than 200 people in London, the company said in a statement.
“London is already one of our most important research and commercial hubs outside the US, and our expansion into the Knowledge Quarter gives us room to grow,” Pip White, head of EMEA North at Anthropic, said in a statement.
“The UK connects ambitious enterprises and institutions that understand what is at stake with AI security, with an extraordinary pool of AI talent – we want to be where all this comes together.”
Anthropic’s new office will be located in London’s Knowledge Quarter area, which is home to a number of AI companies, including OpenAI. Google deepmind, metaSynesthesia and wave.

Anthropic has been gaining momentum recently, releasing its viral coding agent, Cloud Code, with its Mythos AI model, which is excellent at identifying vulnerabilities and security flaws within software.
According to reports, the company recently raised $30 billion in February at a valuation of $380 billion and has offered VCs to invest at a valuation of $800 billion.
Its annual run-rate revenue has exceeded $30 billion, with more than 1,000 businesses spending more than $1 million each year.
