Belgian authorities have seized two shipments of military equipment components headed to Israel, news website Declassified UK reports.
The shipment arrived at Liège Airport in Belgium from the UK on March 24 and was scheduled to fly to Tel Aviv on an Israel-based Challenge Airlines cargo flight two days later. Adrien Dolimont, head of Belgium’s Wallonia region, said authorities were alerted by the NGO Vredesacty and intervened immediately to inspect the cargo.
“On issues related to Israel, our position is clear: we do not grant licenses for equipment that would strengthen the military capabilities of the parties involved,” Dolimont said.
While Belgium did not disclose the firms responsible, Declassified reported on Tuesday, citing shipping documents, that UK military export codes matched equipment related to military aircraft and fire control systems. The outlet cited customs records as saying that the first shipment to Israel via lease from Britain was sent by Moog, a US aerospace company with factories in Britain.
Several European countries have canceled arms deals with Israel over military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, as human rights groups and the United Nations accuse Israel of indiscriminately killing civilians.
In 2025, Belgium joined South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Israel has rejected the allegations as baseless and an attempt “Distort the meaning of the word ‘genocide’.”
