This is the hair-raising moment a fishing boat was cornered by a great white shark as the crew screamed “this is not fair”.
Farmer James Harris was fishing with friends off the coast of Robe Obelisk in South Australia when the terrifying encounter happened.
In a shocking clip of the incident, the great white shark can be seen lurking just below the water’s surface while crew members exchange expletives, noting that the creature is “very big”.
James, 24, said the first sign of danger came when birds that had been flocking around the boat suddenly flew away.
“There were six or seven albatrosses hanging around us as we were fishing,” he said.
“Then suddenly they took off together.”
A few moments later, the group saw a huge dorsal fin rising out of the water and heading straight towards them.
The shark – which James estimated was about five meters long – swam up to the boat before circling three times.
“We were surprised to see a ship of this size so close to shore,” he said.
After seeing the hunter moving around them, the group decided to leave immediately.
“It made three circles around us before we got organized and quickly took off,” James said.
Online users were divided between fear and awe after seeing the magnificent creature.
“This is a ‘no’ from me,” said the first comment on the video.
“I’m sitting on the floor on my couch. Watching this makes me stressed,” added another.
However, one intrepid user seemed keen to experience the shark himself, posting: “What a beauty! Where is this dude?”
