Little do fans know that Alan Ritchson and Katherine, before they were a married couple, were an item in their high school years.
When the Reacher star first saw her in his wife’s ballet dance class, he instantly fell in love with her.
In a throwback interview with The Road to Wisdom Podcast, Katherine said, “We haven’t been ‘together’ since then, but we definitely dated.”
When the teenage couple met, there was an instant connection.
“I’ll never forget seeing her in the (dance) studio for the first time. I turned to my friend Miriam and I said, ‘Who is that?’ He remembered. “At some point he came over to me and we started talking.”
But there was drama as Ritchson, who believed their summer romance was a “fling”, led him to leave Katherine.
In this regard, she joked on the 2023 podcast, “I’ve since paid him for it. He still justifies it. He’s like, ‘You lived 30 minutes away; I couldn’t afford gas.'”
However, as fate would have it, the high school romance subsided but did not end.
Years later, Ritchson reconnected with Katherine through a mutual friend, and in her words, “(the rest is) history.”
The couple tied the knot in 2006 and have three children.
