US Defense Secretary once again criticizes journalists as ‘not patriotic’ over Iran war coverage
US War Secretary Pete Hegseth has once again attacked the press and accused the journalists “Endless stream of garbage” In its coverage of the Iran conflict and compared the Pentagon media pool to the Pharisees, a Jewish group in the Bible who frequently clashed with Jesus.
Hegseth, a former Fox News host appointed by US President Donald Trump to lead the US Defense Department, has repeatedly clashed with the press more than a year into his tenure.
Hegseth’s latest comments follow critical coverage of his “CSAR 25:17” Reading at the Pentagon prayer meeting, which was labeled “Fake” Samuel L. in Pulp Fiction Because of its similarity to the fictional passage from Ezekiel read by Jackson.
“I can’t help but notice the endless stream of trash, the persistent negative coverage, despite the historic and significant success of this effort and the success of our troops.” Hegseth said at a Pentagon briefing Thursday. “Sometimes it’s hard to figure out which side some of you are really on.”
“The Pharisees – the so-called and self-appointed elite of their time – they were there to testify, to write everything down, to report,” He added. “But… even if they witnessed a literal miracle it didn’t matter, they were only there to explain goodness to serve their own agenda.”
Hegseth said that journalists “Just like these Pharisees,” Adding to that political hostility toward President Trump “Blind” Them “The Genius of Our American Warriors.”
The Pentagon chief previously accused media outlets of producing “Fake News.” In March he criticized “The dishonest and anti-Trump press” to try “Undermining progress, inflating every cost and questioning every step.” Later that month, Hegseth said that journalists highlighted American casualties in the Iran war. “To make the President look bad,” Six US Army reservists were also killed in the Iranian attack on an operations center in Kuwait.
Hegseth’s latest comments come as Trump and his administration officials have increasingly framed aspects of the Iran war in Biblical terms and used Biblical references in public statements about the conflict and related military actions.
Several US military commanders have reportedly offered religious interpretations of the attack on Iran, with the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) saying some have described Trump as a harbinger of the Second Coming and the conflict as a war. “Signal Fire” For Armageddon. Separately, Trump shared an AI-generated image of himself wearing a Christ-like image healing a man, which drew criticism online.
