The Lebanese army has accused Israel of “numerous violations” of the ceasefire agreement, just hours after it came into force. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to a 20-day ceasefire after discussions with Donald Trump, but it already looks fragile.
“Multiple Israeli attacks” and “intermittent shelling targeting several villages” were recorded by the army in southern Lebanon just hours after the ceasefire began. The military urged civilians to “exercise caution in returning to southern villages and towns, amid numerous violations of the agreement”.
Earlier, it had warned people against returning to areas in the south of the country even after the ceasefire came into effect, NBC News reported.
