If you’re like me, your wardrobe is probably filled with leggings in shades ranging from deep, dark black to well-worn marls. They’re my default by now, but they rarely make me feel particularly sophisticated. However, this week, I was reminded of a color trend that, when presented in sleek, body-skimming clothing, naturally feels more elevated.
Irina Shayk, spotted walking her dogs in New York, wore a tonal brown ensemble consisting of flared leggings and a coordinating quarter-sleeve top. Where black might have seemed overly sporty, the chocolate color offered a depth that really refined the casual outfit.

It may not be the most obvious spring color, but I guess chocolate brown could be called for as a refreshing alternative to black during the warmer months. While the shake leans toward a tonal approach, it matches beautifully with lighter seasonal colors, from butter yellow to soft powder blue.
Consider this your cue to embrace brown, possibly the best way to wear leggings right now. Scroll through to discover and shop the trends below.
