As Iran announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, US President Donald Trump praised Pakistan and its leadership.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir including Trump wrote on Truth Social in a grateful post appreciating Pakistan’s role as mediator for US-Iran peace talks, “Thank you Pakistan and its great Prime Minister and Field Marshal, two wonderful people!”
In a series of posts on his Truth social platform, Trump described the situation as “a great and wonderful day for the world”, linking Pakistan’s role in the developments involving Iran and key Gulf countries.
In his remarks, Trump called both leaders “fantastic people” and praised their role as part of a broader regional dynamic.
He also praised regional partners including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar for their “great bravery and help”.
On the Strait of Hormuz, Trump claimed Iran had agreed not to close the key waterway again and said efforts were underway with US assistance to remove sea mines.
At the same time, he said that the US naval blockade targeting Iran will continue until negotiations are fully completed, suggesting that the talks are nearing a conclusion.
Additionally, in a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Defense Forces Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also appreciated their efforts.
“I express my gratitude and appreciation to our dear brothers Pakistan Prime Minister Sharif and Field Marshal Munir for their tireless efforts to end the war in the region,” Araghchi said.
