French film icon and four-time Cesar Award winner Nathalie Baye has died at the age of 77.
His family announced his death AFP On Saturday, April 18, it was revealed that the actress breathed her last on Friday.
It was reported that Nathalie Bay died at her home in Paris due to complications from Lewy body dementia, a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects cognition, movement and behavior.
Her health challenges came to a head last summer when her condition worsened and she was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia.
Born in July 1948, Bay enjoyed a career spanning nearly six decades, during which she appeared in 80 different films.
Having initially trained as a dancer, she turned to acting in 1970 and captured the hearts of audiences through her performance in François Truffaut’s Day for Night in 1973.
He experimented with a variety of film genres, from dramatic indies to international Hollywood productions such as Steven Spielberg’s catch Me If You Can in 2002.
Over the course of her phenomenal career, Bay has been nominated 10 times for César Awards, winning four times.
Her first win came in 1981 for Best Supporting Actress every man for himselfafter which he won strange case (1981), la balance (1982), and young lieutenant (2005).
In 2009, the French government appointed him a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour, honoring his lifetime contribution to French cinema and culture.
