The Phoenix Suns clinched the final Western Conference playoff spot by defeating the Golden State Warriors 111-96 in their play-in contest on Friday.
In the Warriors vs. Suns contest, Jalen Green led the way with 36 points, while Devin Booker added 20 points as Phoenix turned in a strong all-around performance.
The Suns will now face defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs starting on Sunday. The loss ended Golden State’s season.
Phoenix’s defense limited Stephen Curry to 17 points on 4-of-16 shooting, while Brandin Podziemski led the Warriors with 23 points.
The Suns took an early lead and controlled most of the game. They led by five at halftime and increased the lead to 69–53 in the third quarter.
Jordan Goodwin contributed 19 points, nine rebounds and six steals, while tensions rose late as Booker and Draymond Green were both ejected after receiving two technical fouls.
The win ensures that Phoenix avoids elimination and continues its postseason campaign, while Golden State’s campaign will end in the play-in stage.
