A hot air balloon had to make an emergency landing in the backyard of a Temecula home.
Hunter Perrin was watching TV Saturday morning when a neighbor rang his doorbell to tell him a hot air balloon had fallen in his backyard, he said. Video He shared about the incident online.
“Wow,” Perrin can be heard repeating as he and his wife Jenna watch the unusual sight. “Hello everyone. How has been your journey so far?”
“I’m glad you guys missed the tree,” Jenna said before reassuring passengers that they were still in Temecula.
Perrin’s footage shows the hot air balloon’s basket filled with 13 passengers, all appearing to be in good spirits despite the unexpected turn.
according to KABCThe pilot told the passengers that they would make an emergency landing because the wind had decreased and the hot air balloon was low on fuel.
Briana Avalos, one of the passengers, told the outlet, “(The pilot) was trying to get us on the road, but we couldn’t get on the road in time, so we landed safe and sound in people’s backyards.” “No one got hurt, everyone is great. He was an amazing pilot!”
In the video the passengers climb out of the basket, before the plane is pushed away from the fence along the backyard into a position where it can “jump” onto the house. Eventually, the balloon gets off the ground and lands on the street in front of the house as residents watch.
Witnesses in front of the home can be heard comparing the sight of the balloon stuck to the roof of the home to a scene from the Pixar movie “Up.”
No injuries or damage to property were reported.
“We’re just glad that everybody was safe,” Perrin said. KTLA. “It’s just such a crazy story.”
