A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his twin daughters. 11-year-old girls died after allegedly having their throats slit at home.
Police were called to the family’s apartment around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday (April 19). They arrived and found the girls’ bodies on their bedroom floor.
A knife was found near his 45-year-old father, who was reportedly sitting near the bodies. He was arrested on the spot itself. Forensic examiners believe the twins were strangled before their throats were cut.
according to Hindustan TimesThe girls lived with their father in a section of apartments in Kidwai Nagar, Kanpur, India. Meanwhile, his six-year-old brother lived with his mother in a separate part of the flat.
DCP (South) Deependra Nath Chaudhary confirmed the arrest on Sunday. He further said, “We received a call from the accused himself on number 112 at around 4.30 in the morning.”
Local media reports suggest that the girls were found on the floor next to their unused beds.
The suspect’s wife told police that everything seemed normal the evening before the girls were found dead. The family had dinner together, before the accused took the children to his room and made a long phone call.
The wife woke up when the police knocked at the door at midnight.
