It impressed me with its reverence for scripture, logic, and better explanations of geologic features like fossilized mass cemeteries and out-of-place rock layers. It also helped me realize that I didn’t need to be embarrassed in front of my evolutionary atheist classmates.

The year was 1975, half a century ago. I was 19 years old in a philosophy of science course at a conservative Midwestern Christian college. In the middle of the course, I gave my copy to the professor origin flood For consideration because I thought it deserved some comment. Boy, did I ever get a comment.
“I think I’ll have to devote an entire lecture to Dr. Morris. It’s been a long time since I’ve read such a bad book.”
Thus began a lecture by a learned, erudite and respected Christian philosophy professor. When he spoke, he had a fatherly demeanor, as if he was warning us of some dangerous danger. I wish I had known that he was getting me into trouble myself.
The professor did not mention the actual evidence cited by Morris, such as large mass fossil cemeteries. Instead, they focused intensely on what they considered serious procedural violations. He argued that Construction Science was tainted because Dr. Morris and other creationists were biased from the beginning. “Their minds are made up before they even see the evidence,” he said. In the end, I became frustrated and disappointed, but it was hard to argue. After all, the people who wrote books and technical articles about evolution seemed to be pure scientists. The fast pace of life became worse, and as I moved forward, I struggled to find whatever peace and strength I could. I also dabbled in Eastern religions like Taoism.
a long road to truth
After searching in vain for peace and strength everywhere, I gradually came back to the truth God. (He graciously won me back, but that’s a different story.) However, I remained the original agnostic for a while. For me there was still evolution, if I can mix metaphors, the Dark Tower which was always the elephant in the room. I always knew the creators had some good arguments, but there were so many of them, so much shouting, and lag that I couldn’t get a clear picture. For every good thing he did, Bible Critics quickly produced a number of stories to counter this, often with snobbish disdain. This made it very difficult for me to be consistent Christian Worldview.

if i could go back
So, after several difficult years, I realized that my philosophy as a science professor was doing exactly what he accused creationists of doing – teaching the wrong history and philosophy of science, as well as undeserved slander against fellow Christians like Morris. If I could, I would go back and ask my professor this question: Where is the strong evidence that scientists “arrived at their evolutionary conclusions merely by inferring objective facts”? I learned that those scientists were actually extremely biased. He hid his motives, mistakes and prejudices very well – just like a spider’s web. His public relations campaign was amazing, even better than his science. Sadly they betrayed many church.
