Rajasthan Royals’ veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja expressed his honest opinion on youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has been praised for his extraordinary talent and innate ability to hit sixes.
Rajasthan Royals faced a huge dip in their winning streak in their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, one of the most impressive teams in the competition now faces one of the weakest looking sides the competition has ever seen.
Kolkata Knight Riders need a win to give themselves some chances to make a comeback in this edition of the competition. The Knight Riders are the only team not to achieve a single win in this edition of the competition.
Ravindra Jadeja boldly declares Vaibhav Suryavanshi as RR’s lucky charm
Ravindra Jadeja arrived at the Eden Gardens with Rajasthan Royals, a ground and opposition where he has had much success in the past. Speaking to Jadeja, the veteran all-rounder was all praise for his team’s biggest attraction, the 15-year-old star kid from Bihar.
The Indian legend said that the Royals are lucky to have him with them and the way he bats with confidence is surprising considering his age. He further said that he will improve further and will be very positive for India.
“I think we are lucky to have him (Vaibhav Suryavanshi) in our team; He bats well and has a lot of confidence for his young age. My opinion has not changed – since the first time I saw him, he has been hitting big sixes continuously. With time he will improve in terms of skills and talent, which is a good thing for India in the future.”
“When we are batting I think as a batsman, and the same applies to bowling” – Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja was transferred from Chennai Super Kings to Rajasthan Royals as part of a major trade deal. However, the way Riyan Parag has used Ravindra Jadeja, his role has become doubtful despite being a part of the eleven.
However, Jadeja claimed that he plays as per the team’s requirements; If he needs to bat well, he does that, and if he needs him to focus on the ball, he thinks accordingly.
The Royals all-rounder claimed, “I play as per the team’s requirements: when we are batting I feel that as a batsman, and the same applies to bowling. As an all-rounder, my job is not easy because the team expects me to perform well with both bat and ball. As you said, my record against KKR is good and I hope to perform well today too.”
Jadeja claims it is tough to take charge as an all-rounder
Ravindra Jadeja is no longer young; However, he is fit and promising even for his age. The great all-rounder revealed that it is important for players like him to decide what to focus on, as they cannot do the entire batting and bowling within that one session.
“As an all-rounder, you have to decide whether to focus on bowling or batting during the training sessions. You have to keep the workload in mind and can’t do everything in a single session. I decided to split it in half so that my workload remains balanced,” said Jadeja on managing his workload as an all-rounder.
Having batted twice this season, Jadeja has scored 76 runs for the Royals this edition, but his strike rate has been low, with just 118.75. Despite being handed the ball limited times by captain Riyan Parag, he has taken three wickets in the season.
