US President Donald Trump has said that the United States military has seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship that was trying to bypass his country’s naval blockade near the Strait of Hormuz.
There was no immediate comment from Iran.
In a social media post on Sunday, Trump said the ship, named Tuska, was warned to stop by a US Navy guided missile destroyer in the Gulf of Oman, but its “crew refused to listen”.
He said the US Navy “stopped them in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engine room” and that US Marines had surveillance on the ship, and were “looking at what was on board”.
