A researcher who has spent years scanning a mysterious boat-shaped rock formation in Turkey believes he has found proof that Noah’s Ark was real – and he plans to send a robot into the tunnels found beneath it.
Andrew Jones of Noah’s Ark Scans has focused his work on a site high on Mount Ararat, where a bizarre structure first came to the attention of scientists in 1959. At an altitude of about 6,500 feet, the rocks bear the unmistakeable outline of a ship. When Jones measured the structure, it came to 515 feet – a figure that aligns precisely with the dimensions given in Genesis chapter six, once altered by the hand of Egypt.
Fresh scans and analysis of the soil have now yielded “exciting” new results that Jones says bring the Biblical story closer to reality.
Using ground-penetrating radar, Jones and his team have mapped a network of underground passageways running through the structure. Channels run straight through the center, others trace the inner edge of the ship-shaped outline, and they all converge on a hollow space in the core that Jones named the atrium.
According to one report, he drew a direct parallel with the Biblical description of the Ark, which recorded three inner decks designed to hold Noah, his family, and the animals he was ordered to save.
Jones told GB News, “God told Noah to bring animals in. And so these animals, as well as Noah and his family, must have lived there. What’s interesting is that these empty spaces have formed beneath the ground – and they’re not just random.”
“These tunnels are also following a pattern. GPR is a way of looking beneath the soil using radar. There have also been studies with IRT, which is another geophysical technique – and they are showing a ship-shaped hull still preserved deep in the soil.”
what does soil tell
Working completely without excavation, the team has gathered chemical evidence that this formation may not be a natural geological feature. Twenty-eight soil samples collected in 2024 from locations both inside and outside the ship’s size range produced a surprising contradiction.
“What they showed was that the soil inside the ship shape had three times more organic matter and 38 percent more potassium than the outside.
“It turns out the soil is unique. And the grass, in the fall, is yellow inside.”
Jones believes that the explanation lies in the gradual disintegration of an ancient wooden structure. A wooden ship buried for millennia will disintegrate completely, but the process will leave a lasting imprint on the chemistry of the Earth around it – and they argue that the data is showing exactly that.
He said, “It’s absolutely a link to the Bible. It’s 300 Egyptian cubits. For us, these are all positive lines that we’re following, and it’s showing that there’s still a lot more to be found.”
shells on mountain top
Jones also cited the presence of marine fossils in the surrounding rocks as supporting evidence. They argue that the remains of coral and shells have been discovered at that high point, at a time when the entire area was submerged – which is consistent with the Biblical description of a worldwide flood.
Mainstream geology offers a different answer: the fossils reached their present elevations not through a flood but by the slow upward movement of tectonic plates over many millions of years, gradually pushing the ancient sea floor up into mountainous heights.
Jones isn’t content to stop at surface-level scans. Their next objective is to physically enter the tunnels and document what is inside them.
“We have a team that is designing a robotic remote-controlled device that can go inside the hole and detect tunnels,” he said. Perhaps like the famous children’s song, one day instead of animals, robots will enter the site two by two.
