Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have received support from a royal expert after facing criticism over their recent trip to Australia.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex traveled to Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra for a number of charity events before returning to their home in California.
However, some critics are questioning whether their visit amounted to a “fake royal tour” despite stepping down as working royals in 2020.
Speaking on this, royal expert Jenny Bond defended Harry and Meghan as she said they have never described their journey that way.
“Harry and Meghan never said that. They are not doing any walkouts or having high-level discussions with dignitaries or politicians, as far as we know,” he told The Mirror.
The expert added, “They’re there to promote themselves – obviously – but also to do some charitable work along the way.”
“This kind of trip is exactly what Harry and Meghan wanted to do at the beginning of the whole tragic story that led to them stepping down from their working roles as royals.
“They wanted to combine earning a living with some charitable work. So, here they are doing exactly that. What’s the problem?”
