Savannah Guthrie’s fans and friends have reacted to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department on social media as the search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie, continues into its third month since her kidnapping.
The department that led the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping is facing fresh criticism after sharing a heartbreaking post that left many thinking Savannah’s mother has been found.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department’s social media team shared a post late Thursday night that simply said, “Update: Nancy has been located.”
The post actually mentioned 82-year-old Nancy Radakovich, who bears a striking resemblance to “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie’s still-missing mother.
One fan commented on the post, “With ‘Nancy’ Guthrie being a high profile case around the world, y’all had no sense to modify the title with Nancy’s surname. Yes, the photo is right there but at first glance it was very confusing. Even with the outrage you don’t change it.”
Another said, “PCSD, you should be ashamed!”
“I’m starting to think the Pima County Sheriff’s Department is actually a satirical organization. This is the only explanation for this post. Do you guys require a civil service exam or are you taking what we can get the department,” said a third.
A fourth commented, “This Nancy wasn’t even missing for 24 hours! What is this post for her reality TV show? Sheriff Nano needs to be fired immediately!”
Savannah’s mother Nancy Guthrie has been missing since February 1.
