Anne Hathaway has made a highly relevant confession.
while talking to people magazine For the cover of the outlet’s 2026 World’s Most Beautiful issue, the actress said her awkward phase lasted until her late 30s.
“I think I had the longest unbroken weird phase in Hollywood,” she said, beginning, “I think it lasted until my late 30s.”
“I didn’t feel like I could be comfortable anywhere,” The Princess Diaries hitmaker said of her “social vertigo.”
“I want to walk into a room and be comfortable and hang out, but I can’t find a place.”
As a child, she “found it really hard to talk”, Hathaway admitted, arguing that she found acting easier than authentic expression because she could remember all her lines.
Suggesting that turning 40 has brought a new kind of pace, she confessed, “Suddenly, the dress rehearsal was over. I was like, this was never a dress rehearsal.”
“It was life. It’s been happening the whole time.”
She concluded by commenting, “Turning 40, I just found a different gear, and I wasn’t interested in living a weird life anymore. I was just interested in getting to the fun part.”
