King Charles is secretly anxious ahead of his highly anticipated visit to the United States.
Her Majesty, who is expected to visit Washington DC and meet President Donald Trump, feels pressured by the distance between British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Trump himself.
Former royal editor Duncan Larcombe says the King is likely “privately terrified” ahead of the tour.
“This is one of the biggest tests King Charles has faced since he became monarch, because the historically special relationship is in a dangerous position,” he said.
“Donald Trump is openly critical of the prime minister, which is something Charles has never had to deal with before.”
He added: “Donald Trump is his own force and we know how much the royal relationship means to him, so there’s definitely pressure on Charles to make it a success.”
