Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis is finally all set to join Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for IPL 2026. Inglis is not available for the first part of the season, but his arrival will be a boost for the Rishabh Pant-led franchise.
Inglis has not been on the field since early March, when he donned the gloves for Western Australia against Queensland in a Sheffield Shield match following Australia’s early exit from the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
Josh Inglis unavailable for half of IPL 2026
Inglis was unavailable for the early part of the IPL season as he planned his wedding at that time. Inglis finally married on 18 April. Despite knowing he might miss half the season, LSG spent Rs. His form fetched Rs 8.6 crore for his services.
Inglis was a key part in ensuring that Punjab Kings (PBKS) made the final in IPL 2025 as he scored 278 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of almost 163. Notably, 2025 was Inglis’s first IPL season. His unavailability for part of IPL 2026 was cited as a possible reason why PBKS released him ahead of the auction.
Once Inglis takes the field in LSG colours, it will be his second for the team in as many IPL seasons.
Josh Inglis likely to be available from May 4th
According to ESPN Cricinfo, Inglis will not be able to join LSG immediately and is expected to be available only for the match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 4. This meant that Inglis could only play in LSG’s last six league stage matches.
His arrival will be a key factor for the Rishabh Pant-led franchise as both Pant and Nicholas Pooran – LSG’s primary wicketkeeper – are struggling for form.

Josh Inglis’ return to the team could mean that LSG will reconsider their overseas options. Currently, Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran comprise LSG’s overseas squad, with South African spinner George Linde occasionally playing at number four.
When English arrives, LSG can either play all four frontline batsmen or take the tough decision of dropping Nicholas Pooran due to his very poor form.
LSG current form, injury updates and upcoming events
While Josh Inglis is scheduled to be available from May 4, LSG have two more matches to play before that. Super Giants are currently facing defeat in three matches, but will play their next two matches at home.
The arrival of Josh Inglis may have been a blessing, but it was reported that South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje had left the LSG camp last week. It is not clear what was the reason for his departure.
Lucknow Super Giants are currently placed ninth in the points table with just two wins from six matches. They will host Rajasthan Royals on April 22 and Kolkata Knight Riders on April 26 respectively at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
