Motorola is expected to announce new Razer phones in the next few days, including brand new models of its Razer, Razer Plus, and Razer Ultra flip phone foldables. With new versions on the horizon, I would generally recommend not buying the current generation and waiting to see what the latest models bring.
However, based on what we know about the 2026 Razer lineup, that general advice doesn’t apply. If the reports are true, this year’s Razer Phones won’t just be minor spec upgrades over their predecessors; They will also be much more expensive.
So what should you do? Don’t wait for the 2026 razors. If you’ve been considering buying the Razr but have been holding off, take this as your sign and buy the 2025 model at a deep discount while you still can.

The 2026 Razer lineup feels like a big drop

Although Motorola has yet to confirm any details about the Razr 2026 handset, the rumor mill is working hard to paint a clear picture of what to expect. And what we’re expecting is… not great.
Before we get into the pricing, let’s review the upgrades we’re expecting – starting with the base model Razer (2026). While previous leaks suggested the phone would feature a MediaTek Dimensity 8000 chipset, the latest reporting claims it will actually be the Dimensity 7450X (a less impressive upgrade over the Dimensity 7400X inside the 2025 Razr). We’re also looking at a larger 4,800mAh battery, faster RAM and storage, and a 50MP ultrawide camera to replace the 13MP sensor in the 2025 model. Overall, not too shabby.
Unfortunately, the other two razors are considerably more disappointing.
Looking at the leaked specs for the Razer Plus (2026), you’d be mistaken for thinking you were accidentally looking at a spec sheet for the Razer Plus (2025). The display specs, cameras, charging speed, and even the chipset are similar between the two phones. In fact, the only notable difference with the 2026 model is that the battery has grown from 4,000mAh to 4,500mAh in the 2025 version. That’s good, but not enough in itself to justify the new model.

We’re not seeing any display upgrades for the Razer Ultra (2026). All camera sensors appear to be unchanged. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is reportedly sticking around for another year. Apart from the larger battery and some new colors/finishes, the Razer Ultra (2026) is practically the same phone as the 2025 version.
Such minor upgrades from year to year are bad enough anyway, but then we get to the top: the reported new prices. Although still unconfirmed, the latest reports indicate price increases for each 2026 Razr. Here’s what we’re expecting:
- $800 for the Razer (2026) – $100 more than the Razer (2025)
- $1,100 for the Razer Plus (2026) – $100 more than the Razer Plus (2025)
- $1,500 for the Razer Ultra (2026) – $200 more than the Razer Ultra (2025)
In other words, despite seeing very little change in this year’s Razrs, Motorola has decided you should pay more for them. It’s that bad in the smartphone world, and that’s the combo we’re looking at for the Razer (2026) family.
If you want Razer, you should really buy the 2025 model

If you’ve been waiting for the 2026 Razer lineup, all this probably sounds cliché — especially if you were considering one of the phones as your next foldable purchase. Thankfully, there is a silver lining to all this.
Considering how many similarities the 2026 Razr models will have compared to their 2025 siblings, you can buy the 2025 Razr with more confidence that you won’t be missing out on much at all. Even better, since it’s been almost a year since the 2025 razors were released, you can buy them at significant discounts.
You can purchase the Razer 2025 with more confidence that you won’t miss a thing.
How meaningful are we talking? You can buy now on Amazon Razer (2025) for only $550 – Reportedly $250 less than the price of the Razr (2026). Even more impressive is the Razer Plus (2025), which is currently On sale for about $560. As a reminder, this is about half the price we expected for the Razer Plus (2026), and the only advantage may be the larger battery.

Then there’s the Razer Ultra (2025). It has dropped to $900 on Amazon, but the real step up is to buy from Motorola’s website, where you can get the upgraded 1TB model for just $800. Given that we expect the 512GB version of the Razer Ultra (2026) to be $700 more expensive – and will likely just have a bigger battery to show for it – there’s no reason to wait.
All of last year’s Razer models will continue to be excellent handsets in 2026, so you can’t go wrong buying them now – especially considering how cheap you can get them. Still, it’s disappointing that Motorola is making so little effort to justify the Razr (2026) lineup.
Don’t want to miss the best of Android Authority?
