There’s never been a better time than now to be a product of the ’90s. Caroline Bessette Kennedy’s subtly sophisticated ensembles are back in the spotlight, Posh Spice is making its trademark sharp tailoring more accessible than ever through its collaboration with high-street giant Gap, jelly sandals have become the pinnacle of luxury, and practical magic is returning to the big screen with a much-awaited Daayan sequel.

Of course, that’s not even mentioning the breadth of spectacular moments the return is staging. From the pencil skirts seen all over the Chanel runways and in the new season’s collections from ultra-minimalist brands like Saint Agni to the return of the Galliano-for-Dior-esque lace-trim slip dress, it seems like everything old is new again.

Still, if there was one fashion category that was making the biggest mark this spring, it would definitely be denim. In particular, the ’90s jeans trend is making a strong comeback this year, with some of the biggest silhouettes being the ones that were most popular three decades ago.

Leading this group is none other than Stovepipe Jeans. Sharp, polished and cut close to the body, this elongated trouser style was a favorite of off-duty supermodels like Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington and has now been adopted by contemporary style mavens including Alexa Chung and Kendall Jenner.

Their appeal lies in their effortless beauty, architectural nature and versatility in styling. Make a pair, and you’ll find anyone The spring jacket—although bonus points are awarded if the piece is more embellished, like the floral embroidery and opera-inspired styles seen at Valentino, Connor Ives, and Victor Gichev—looks more elevated than ever.

Elsewhere in fashion capitals, perennially functional bootcut jeans are generating interest. Of course, the most obvious companion to your favorite pair of knee-high heel leather boots, but they also make a worthy companion to sleek ballet pumps, heeled sandals and satin trousers. And when it’s a style that’s been endorsed by the likes of Kate Moss and Gwyneth Paltrow for years — and now a cornerstone of Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber’s wardrobe — what’s not to love?

However, the most surprising ’90s jeans trend coming back this spring will be cuffed jeans. With an open hem and ankle-grazing cut, this style is actually the most democratic of the group, giving the ability to transform any existing pair of jeans into this fashion-forward style, all with a simple twist.
