Voice prompts—They’ve mostly been an effective way to communicate with smart assistants, but at some point they get repetitive, especially if you want to ask questions in a more conversational way. With this in mind, Google recently announced that it is now introducing continuous conversations to Gemini on Google Home. According to the company’s announcement:
Since launching Early Access, millions of you have made Gemini for Home a part of your daily life. Your response has been our North Star. Today, we’re delivering on a top request by bringing Continued Conversations to Gemini for Home – now enhanced with deeper context and expanded to more users, countries, and languages than ever before.
Continuous Conversation essentially allows users to communicate back and forth with Gemini, reducing the time and effort required for repeated signals. It also means you only have to say “Hey Google” once at the beginning of the conversation, and the device will display a pulsating light while it waits for your response. Google says the new update is “a step toward a vision of a voice assistant that feels like a true companion in conversation.”
As far as availability goes, Continued Conversation will come to Gemini for Home Early Access users with no subscription required. Users can check this feature Home Settings > Gemini for Home Voice Assistant > Continuous Conversations.
