Kanye West is facing one setback after another as several concerts were pulled due to his past anti-Semitic comments.
Now there is fear that his show in Italy may also be closed.
A concert by Ye is scheduled to take place on July 18 as part of the Hellwat Festival in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
The stakes are high for West as his performance at the RCF Arena, which could hold over 100,000 fans, if it happens, could make it one of the Chicago rapper’s biggest shows.
However, the concert has come under increasing criticism as Jewish groups as well as anti-fascist activists are demanding the Donda rapper’s performance be shut down.
Voices from within Italian political circles are raising concerns about the West’s presence in the European country.
Pina Picierno, an Italian politician and vice-president of the European Parliament, told La Gazzetta di Reggio that her country should follow the rules of the UK and France and bar the Grammy winner from performing.
“The United Kingdom refused to grant visas. France effectively halted the Marseille concert… Meanwhile, Italy stands idle, even after 68,000 tickets have been sold, as if nothing had happened.”
Despite the outrage, West doesn’t seem to be backing down, as he is set to perform in several countries including India, Portugal, Turkey, Spain and the Netherlands.
