watercolor flush
Natural-looking, barely there blush has recently been experiencing something that can only be described as a renaissance over the past few months. with the popularity of Nina Park’s With effortlessly chic makeup looks slowly taking over our FYP, it’s become clear that one ultra-dreamy blush trend is the most talked-about one: watercolor flush. Using watery colors and lightweight formulas, you can achieve a stained glass-like shine for an artistic touch. “Ultra-sheer, translucent layers are gradually built up for an effect that resembles a delicate watercolor wash: fresh, glowing, and incredibly natural,” says Ramsey. “It’s the opposite of heavy, which is why it feels so culturally right right now.”
When recreating this trend for her clients, she turned to Rare Beauties Soft Pinch Liquid Blush ($25) for the exceptional pigmentation it delivers in every drop and channel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Blush ($56). Ramsey tells us, “[Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Blush]is the best of all the liquid blush options available on the market. It’s perfect for washing away barely-there complexions.” She begins by applying light layers of liquid and gel blush with a soft brush, gradually building up. His biggest trick? Start with less than you need. “You can always add, but overuse takes away the ethereal quality completely,” she explains. “I like to tap with fingers for the most natural melt.”

sunburn effect
To create a sunburn effect blush, she uses Charlotte Tilbury matte beauty blush wand ($44). “This is a great soft matte formula that’s easy to blend and layer without looking overdone,” says Ramsey. She also points out that the product’s buildable stick formula makes it easy to, “Swipe across the nose and blend with fingers on the go.” To master this look, Ramsey recommends using blush in combination with a cream or stick formula and a dab on the nose, upper cheeks, and eyes. Then, use the ‘concealing’ method by applying concealer after Apply blush to targeted areas to soften intensity and diffuse harsh lines for more control. She adds, “It sounds counterintuitive, but it’s a game-changer.”

Golden Hour Blush
For a few minutes at the end of the day, you may be so lucky as to be bathed in stunning golden light that adds a little magic to your world. One of this year’s most notable makeup trends, golden hour blush, adds softness to the complexion with, as Ramsey explains, a bright blend of warm tones on the cheeks to mimic a gorgeous, golden-hour glow. She adds, “Think of the sunset on your face. Terracotta, warm coral, peachy amber – it’s that ‘I’ve just come back from somewhere beautiful’ look that no one can resist.” Now, all we need is a makeup look that reflects evening and morning.
The makeup artist reaches for what Ramsey refers to as a “warm, blended sunset finish” gentle pinch of rare beauty ($25), in shades of Joy and Happy. She adds Rode’s best-sellers pocket blush In Tan Line ($25). “It’s the epitome of summer skin, and you really can’t overdo it. It’s the perfect tan-pink that works on many skin tones.” To recreate this trend, she recommends mixing your favorite liquid blush with a drop of highlighter or glow oil in a tapping motion using a ring finger, focusing on the cheekbones, tip of the nose, and temples. She tells us the key is placement: blending up and out rather than inward toward the nose for a raised, sun-kissed effect.

all natural finish
Over the past few weeks, another trend has emerged that has surprised us amidst all this glitz, Colorful makeup appears on concert attendees. Blush with an all-natural finish allows features to be well preserved and you’re left with a ‘your skin, but better’ glow. Whether you go with a semi-matte cream-based blush that easily blends into bronzer, or a gel option designed to be applied over multiple layers of skin care, an all-natural flush is the secret to unlocking the “lazy girl” makeup look of your dreams in one simple step.
When shopping for the best products to take advantage of this blush trend, be sure to pay special attention to how your skin reacts to each formula type (cream, gel, liquid, powder, or hybrid), and what type of look you’re going for. For a completely natural finish, you’ll want a product that can add a light wash of color to your complexion without being overly shiny, shimmery, or bold. For a cream blush that keeps skin supple and hydrated all day long, consider using Soft Plumping Cream Blush Veil ($34) Makeup by Mario. Another favorite, Hourglass unreal liquid blush ($38), delivers buildable color with a serum-like formula that contours to the skin.

bright blush
Bright blush has also emerged on our radar as a versatile trend that can take us through the cooler months during spring and summer as it enhances your natural features with shine. “According to Ramsey, the cream and liquid formula create what she describes as a ‘three-dimensional, lit-from-within glow.’ “As a makeup artist I truly believe Luminous blush is a powerful tool that adds life and color while highlighting the reflective quality of naturally flushed, hydrated skin – something that matte formulas simply can’t replicate,” she says.
Her top product for the glitter blush trend is Dior backstage pink glitter blush ($42), because it uses an ultra-fine powder that blends seamlessly into the skin and the brand’s pH “Color Reviver” technology that reacts to your unique skin chemistry for a custom, long-lasting flush. “This is a product that makes people ask if you’ve had a facial,” says Ramsey. For a clean option that’s equally luxurious, she recommends Ilia Soft Focus Blurring Blush ($36), as it provides a weightless finish while blurring pores to achieve a subtle, natural-looking complexion.
Before using any makeup products, Ramsey makes sure the skin is completely prepared to receive them. “A hydrated, well-primed canvas creates a truly luminous blush shine Versus sit on top of the skin,” she says. Skin care can be applied with fingers for a translucent, more natural finish. Or with a damp beauty sponge for a skin-like look. Next, Ramsey applies cream blush before sprinkling on a complementary powder blush to ‘lock in’ it and add dimension.
