Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to be thicker than the iPhone 17 Pro Max due to the increased depth around the camera plateau. YouTuber Vadir Yuriev is behind this max tech channel iPhone 18 Pro Max numbers shared based on dummy units. Yuryev also compared the iPhone Ultra dummy unit with the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
iPhone 18 Pro will have an upgraded camera system
according to YurievBoth the camera plateau and the camera lens will be more raised on the iPhone 18 Pro Max compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
- Camera to 17 Pro Maximum thickness: 12.92mm
- Camera to 18 Pro Maximum thickness: 13.77mm
- Plateau 17 Pro Maximum thickness: 11.23mm
- Plateau 18 Pro Maximum thickness: 11.54mm
Apple has officially listed the depth as 8.75mm for both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, which is based on the body of the phone without measurements for the camera system. Thus the iPhone Air measures 5.64 mm at its thinnest.
The iPhone 18 Pro line is expected to feature increased thickness due to the upgraded camera system this fall.
At a glance, the change in depth will be difficult to spot, and the iPhone Air line gives the Pro line more room to trade smoothness for performance.
