At least five people, including a journalist, have been killed in Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s national news agency.
The initial attack targeted a car in the village of At-Tiri, killing two people, the NNA said. The Israeli military said it attacked vehicles belonging to Hezbollah military structures.
A subsequent air strike hit a building in the same area where journalists had gathered to report on the first attack.
Journalist Amal Khalil, who worked for Al Akhbar, was found dead after being trapped under debris.
Al Jazeera reported for several hours, rescue workers and the Red Cross tried to reach Khalil and another journalist, Zainab Faraz, who had gone to the site of the first Israeli drone strike on a car.
Staff were unable to reach them for long periods due to continued Israeli attacks in the area.
The outlet said Faraj was “taken to hospital in very serious condition and will require surgery.”
Lebanon’s health ministry accused Israel of targeting journalists and blocking rescue efforts, while Israel denied the claims, saying it “does not target journalists and acts to reduce harm to them”.
Two more people were reportedly killed in separate attacks in Yohmor al-Shaqif.
