Outspoken journalist Piers Morgan has shared a pithy advice for King Charles after an internal Pentagon email suggested a review of the US position on the Falklands as punishment for Britain’s stance on the Iran war.
according to reutersThe Pentagon email outlined options for the United States to punish NATO allies it believes have failed to support U.S. operations in the war with Iran, including considering reevaluating U.S. diplomatic support for long-held European “imperial possessions” such as the Falkland Islands, which Argentina holds.
Commenting on this, Piers Morgan tweeted, “If President Trump wants to take the Falkland Islands away from Britain, we have to reclaim the United States.
“The perfect way to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence.”
He added, “King Charles is expected to announce it to Congress next week.”
Earlier, a spokesman for British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands rests with Britain.
“We could not be clearer about the UK’s position on the Falkland Islands. This has been a long-standing position, there has been no change to it,” the spokesman told reporters.
King Charles will visit the United States on Monday at the invitation of President Donald Trump.
Both the palace and the British government have said the four-day visit will honor the historic ties between the two countries as the US marks 250 years of independence.
King Charles will make his first US state visit to the United States at the request of the British government and President Donald Trump, accompanied by Queen Camilla, according to the palace.
