Israel continues to attack Lebanon despite a recent ceasefire extension, with both sides accusing the other of violations.
Israeli troops launched strikes on Friday targeting Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, according to official statements.
The Israel Defense Forces said it targeted rocket launchers that “were a threat to IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians.”
Lebanon’s health ministry said Israeli attacks killed at least six people in the south and wounded two others.
Hezbollah said it responded by targeting an Israeli armored personnel carrier in Ramiyah. In a statement, the group said the attack was “in response” to Israel’s destruction of homes, which it described as a “ceasefire violation.”
The renewed clashes come a day after US President Donald Trump announced a three-week extension of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel will continue to attack “any threats” in Lebanon.
Under the terms of the agreement, Israel says it can take “all necessary measures in self-defense.”
