Rashid Khan and Manav Suthar misjudged a catch off Kagiso Rabada in what looked like a photocopy of an earlier mistake made by a pair of Pakistani fielders.
Gujarat Titans at one time looked dominant over CSK batsmen who were struggling for runs. On this occasion, the Titans were on top of their game in the first 12 overs with Sanju Samson’s early dismissal and Kagiso Rabada finishing the powerplay with a double strike.
Ruturaj Gaikwad finally managed to break the shackles and hit some big hits after failing to connect for almost 6 overs till the 12 overs of play. However, he held on and scored his first half-century of the season off 49 balls.
Rashid Khan and Manav Suthar’s comedy of errors prevented Kagiso Rabada from taking wickets
When Kagiso Rabada returned to bowl the final over of his spell in the 18th over of the game, young Karthik Sharma, trying to pull one over the mid-wicket boundary, managed to loop it, and the ball was in the air for long, giving the fielders a chance to settle down.
However, Rashid Khan ran through deep mid-wicket, and Manav Suthar ran towards the ball from square leg, but both fielders left it for the other to complete the catch, and it fell into the space between the two before going over the fence.
However, Suthar was the player who had to go for the catch, as he had almost reached the zone first, and Rashid was so far away that it required an extraordinary effort to complete that catch.
