macworld Apple to use ‘Ultra’ branding for new iPhone and MacBook, report says

    Philip Esposito writes macworld: :

Apple is rumored to be introducing one of the biggest upgrades to the iPhone lineup this year with the debut of its first foldable phone. While many members of the press have called this device the “iPhone Fold”, Macworld has received information that confirms reports that Apple will opt for the “Ultra” brand for its new iPhone models.

According to a source familiar with Apple’s plans, the company is set to expand its Ultra branding with a new flagship iPhone coming this autumn. Additionally, our source says Apple may bring Ultra branding to the Mac as well.

Mark Gurman has previously reported on Apple’s ambitions to expand its ‘Ultra’ lineup, and more recently, several Weibo leakers have said that ‘iPhone Ultra’ is the planned name for Apple’s foldable iPhone.

Now, Macworld’s The report confirms the iPhone Ultra name and also says that the first ‘MacBook Ultra’ is also coming.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone Ultra alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in September.

The new model will have the following features:

    • Book-style fold with crease-free display
    • Approximately 5.5 inches external screen and 7.8 inches internal screen
    • A20 Pro chip and C2 cellular modem
    • Custom iOS 27 Features for Side-by-Side Apps
    • Main and ultra-wide rear cameras, as well as a front camera on each display
    • Touch ID integrated into the power button
M5 Max MacBook Pro could deliver 'stunning' Geekbench scores

Meanwhile, the MacBook Ultra is essentially a new high-end model of what we were expecting to be introduced as the M6 MacBook Pro.

This new MacBook Ultra will come with a new industrial design, touchscreen, OLED display, dynamic island instead of a notch, and possibly a C2 cellular modem.

Macworld’s The report reiterates that Apple is planning to launch the iPhone Ultra this September, and is also aiming to launch the MacBook Ultra this year, but that could get pushed to early 2027.

What do you think about Apple using ‘Ultra’ branding for more products? Let us know in the comments.
