Shubman Gill won the toss and decided to bowl first. Kagiso Rabada made an immediate impact during the powerplay, taking three key wickets and putting Chennai Super Kings under early pressure. He performed brilliantly giving only 25 runs.
After the early collapse, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad attempted to rebuild the innings with a calm and composed approach. He led the batting with an unbeaten 74 off 60 balls, which helped Chennai Super Kings recover a bit and post a total of 158 runs on the scoreboard.
Chasing the target of 159, Shubman Gill provided a steady start by scoring 33 runs in 23 balls. After his dismissal, Sai Sudarshan took complete control of the chase, played fluent strokes and rotated the strike effectively to maintain the required run rate and take Gujarat Titans to a comfortable end.
Gill praised the overall performance of Gujarat Titans
Sai Sudarshan was the top scorer with 87 runs in 46 balls. Jos Buttler remained unbeaten after scoring 39 runs. Gujarat Titans easily completed the chase in 16.4 overs. Shubman Gill praised the strong and clinical performance of the team.
Gill said after the match, “It’s great to get such a win in this part of India. Apart from the last four or five overs, it was a complete performance. If I have to be critical, finishing an innings has been a problem. We need to do better at that.”
Gill said, “There was some confusion in the middle. When Dubey came in, I thought about whether to bowl to Washington Sundar or not, but the game was in our hands. Manav Suthar bowled well in the last over and gave away about twelve or thirteen runs. Overall, it was a very good effort from our side.”
