Tina Fey reveals why she thinks Tom Brady is perfect for hosting Saturday Night Live (SNL).
For those unaware, Fey became a part of the late-night live sketch comedy variety show as a writer in 1997, but in 2000, she appeared on the show as a performer.
On April 18, Fey appeared at HistoryTalks in Philadelphia, where she spoke to Damien Holbrook about her time working with Brady.
Referring to the 48-year-old American football quarterback, who hosted an episode of the comedy show in 2005, mean Girls Starr said, “The thing about Tom and a lot of other athletes, we’ll always say at SNL that athletes are the best hosts because one, there’s nothing at stake for them, like they don’t care if it’s going well, they’re not trying to get a movie out of it, two, they’re trained.”
Another big difference he highlighted is that actors don’t even pay attention to brutal criticism whereas players are really good at following orders.
The famous American actress and comedian explained, “You can go to an athlete host and say, ‘Yeah, do it faster.’ He says, ‘Yes, ma’am.’ You can’t say like an Oscar-winning film actor, ‘Be faster.’
Fay said that the athletes “comfortably understand the situation of dressing up” and are also “kind of cool”, and these qualities help during live shows.
“In my mind, I’m Tom Brady,” Tina Fey concluded with one comment.
