The man accused of plotting an attack on superstar singer Taylor Swift’s concerts in Vienna nearly two years ago pleaded guilty during a hearing on Tuesday.
According to Austrian outlets Kurier and Kronen Zeitung, the man currently pleaded guilty to charges related to the concert conspiracy. However, it is unclear what other charges he pleaded to.
The 21-year-old Austrian national, known as Bern A, was facing charges in connection with terrorist crimes and conspiracy to attack, including his association with the terrorist organization Islamic State group.
The defendant’s attorney previously said he could plead guilty to most charges and face up to 20 years in prison.
Both Beran A and Arda K, whose full identities are hidden from the public, are currently on trial for a failed terrorist plot. Prosecutors allege that the two men, along with a third accomplice, conspired to launch coordinated Islamic State-inspired attacks in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates in 2024. Despite their planning, the scheduled attacks were never carried out.
Only Baron A. has been charged in connection with the attack at the Taylor Swift concert.
