King Charles will not meet Prince Harry during his ongoing US visit, reports suggest, with the decision being taken due to the Duke of Sussex’s recent comments.
The monarch, who is in the US on a high-profile state visit with Queen Camilla, is focused on strengthening relations with Donald Trump’s administration.
According to insiders, the Duke’s recent public comments on global politics, including a call for strong US leadership on the Ukraine conflict, have added complexity to an already delicate issue.
The source said such comments could blur the line between personal views and the monarchy’s apolitical stance.
The insider explained, “Comments of this nature, even if motivated by genuine concern, inevitably create complications for the monarchy — especially when they engage directly with US leadership at a time when the king is making a formal state visit.” Radar Online.
He added, “There is a careful balance to be maintained between personal expression and diplomatic neutrality and moments like this can make it difficult to maintain that balance.”
“King’s program in the United States has been carefully planned, with a clear focus on statecraft, international relations, and strengthening strategic relationships.
“This is a tightly managed program where every engagement counts, and incorporating personal or family considerations into that framework risks distracting from the main objectives of the visit and potentially diluting its wider diplomatic impact.”
