Riyan Parag has been caught vaping inside the Rajasthan Royals dressing room, and he could face a massive ban, as the act is considered an offense under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act (PECA) 2019.
TimesofIndia.com has contacted BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia for comment, and we will know the story soon once there is an update from him. The BCCI Secretary’s perspective would be essential to understand the dynamics surrounding the RR captain’s disgraceful act.
However, despite all this, Rajasthan Royals handed Punjab Kings their first defeat of the season, ending their undefeated streak after seven matches. Punjab Kings still remain at the top spot while Royals have moved up to third place, having two points more than Sunrisers Hyderabad, having played one game more than the Men in Orange.
RR captain Riyan Parag caught vaping inside the dressing room
After his dismissal, Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag was caught on camera vaping inside the dressing room during the live telecast of the match against Punjab Kings. The act was considered offensive and quickly went viral on social media.
This happened soon after the dismissal of Yuzvendra Chahal, as was evident in the 16th over of the game, when Parag was seen vaping in the presence of his teammates Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Smoking is completely prohibited in the dressing rooms and also in the stadium premises, except in certain areas designated for smoking purposes. Parag was in possession of e-cigarette or vape, which is banned under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act (PECA) 2019.
The Act prohibits the production, sale, purchase, import, export and advertisement of e-cigarettes/vapes in India and violations can lead to imprisonment and heavy fines.

Serious concerns have been raised over the act of vaping
This act has raised serious concerns as vaping is neither legal nor regulated in the country and there may be further investigation on this matter.
“Unlike smoking cigarettes, when it comes to vaping you don’t know what you’re smoking. There’s a reason it’s banned in the country and no one has any idea about the ingredients that go inside it and whether it meets safety guidelines or not.
“Especially for an elite athlete. The franchise and the captain will have to have their reasons ready as the BCCI is unlikely to take a soft stance on such an incident,” says an industry source following the developments.
This is the second violation for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026
This is not the first violation for Rajasthan Royals this season, they have been in controversy for the second time this season. Earlier, the manager had violated the PMOA protocol as he was seen using the phone outside the designated area.
This time Riyan Parag, despite being the captain of the Rajasthan Royals team, has been seen smoking in a place where he is not allowed to use it. The Royals captain has been in disappointing form with the bat, as he has not been able to score even 100 runs so far in this season of IPL.
